Epworth Lodge No.3789

How to join

How to join

Membership is open to any man over the age of 18 irrespective of their ethnic group, political views, economic standing or religion although he is expected to have a faith. Becoming a Freemason is like going on a journey from joining as an Entered Apprentice, and progressing to a Master Mason, which usually takes one or two years. Each of the three stages is marked by a special ceremony.

If after visiting our site you are interested in becoming a Freemason, we suggest you first talk to a family member, friend or colleague whom you already know to be a Freemason. They will be able to explain to you what they can about the fraternity and help you find a suitable Lodge. If you don’t know anyone who is a member, then get in touch with us via the contact us page. You will need to explain to them a little bit about yourself and your reasons for wishing to join. Arrangements will be made to meet you socially to find out more about you, and to give you an opportunity to find out more about us.
You would then in due course be invited to meet a committee of members from a Lodge you may be joining, prior to being balloted for membership of that Lodge. Once successful, a date would then be fixed for your admission.

Epworth Lodge welcomes membership from any person who fulfils the below criteria. Regardless of an existing membership with any other Masonic Lodge, Epworth Lodge would dearly welcome you as a guest or a joining member.

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO JOIN YOU MUST:

  • Be a man of at least 18 years of age
  • Be of good moral character
  • Have a personal belief in a Supreme Being (the definition of a Supreme Being is a personal matter for each individual)
  • Decide to become a Mason of “your own free will and accord” without expectation of any material gain or benefits
  • Be loyal to your country
  • Be dedicated to providing for your own family.
  • Have a sincere determination to conduct yourself in a manner that will earn the respect and trust of others
  • Possess a desire to help others through community service and universal benevolence.
